Delightful Little Baby Mini Album

Today is my day on the Authentique Paper blog. Monday's are usually "tutorial" days over there, so make sure you stop by and see what I've whipped up for today!

A friend of mine asked me to make her a mini album for a shower gift... so this is what I came up with!

I don't want to give it all away here on my blog, so stop by the Authentique blog today to see more!

Christmas... in July?

Yep, you read that right! Since it's CHA week, most companies are coming out with their Christmas collections right now! It just seems too early for me, but I thought I would run with the idea!

My husband tells me every year to get started on making my Christmas cards in the Summer so I don't have to cram that into my schedule a week before Christmas. You would think it would be just that simple considering there is an abundance of new Christmas paper out, right? Yeah.. not so simple for me!

So this year, since I was crafting projects for a few booths at CHA, I decided to at least get a head start on a box to hold my Christmas Cards! I'm sure that has to count for something!

I used the new Handmade Holiday paper collection from Simple Stories, and of coarse, some very festive Timeless Twine in Olive GreenCherry Red, and Kraft Brown. I also added some lovely ribbon from the Really Reasonable Ribbon store.

Thanks for stopping by today! I hope I was able to inspire you to get a little head start on your Christmas projects... it is only 5 months away you know! ;-)

Make sure you CLICK HERE to become a member of the awesome RRR Ribbon club!

Now on to my project...

We were to make a Summer-ish project... so I decided to go with a camping theme. I made this little altered mini clipboard for the Simple Stories CHA booth with their new Take A Hike paper collection. The pretty yellows in the ribbon club assortment went really well with this project!

I loved the little wooden bird. I had to use some pretty Glimmer Mist on it. Of coarse, I used my Stay-put craft mat from Scor-Pal while I was misting!

Have you seen these yet? They are fabulous! The best part is you can buy one HERE from the Really Reasonable Ribbon store along with your fabulous ribbon order! I just love this craft mat, much better quality than the other leading craft mats, and it wipes clean with a paper towel. Wonderful if you like to paint and mist a lot!

Thanks for stopping by today!

Now hop along and see what Kimberly has in store for you today!

New Summer Kicks!

I'm so excited to share this project today! I literally just finished making my daughter some sweet little flip flops... or as she calls them... "floppies."

I picked up these little pink flip flops for less than $1 at Wal-Mart and have had them sitting here for a while. I was trying to clear my desk of CHA projects so I could focus on these. I love how they turned out! So much that I think I am going to make a pair for myself as well!

There's no need to spend $$$ on designer flip flops for the summer when you can make your own! If you're like me, you wear them until they fall apart, so why spend a ton of money on them to begin with, right?

So do you want to know how I made them? It's REALLY simple!

First you will need some plain flip flops and lots of ribbon. Probably about 4 or 5 times the size of the strap length is how much ribbon you will need.

Cut ribbon in two separate pieces and glue small loops on the ends.

Thread one loop through the other.

Take ribbon on the left side and pull it through the loop and go back and forth pulling tight in between loops.

You will start to see a braid form. I measured it against my flip flop strap every so often just to make sure I wasn't going longer than I should.

Once you get to the end, snip the loop.

And then tie a knot in the end.You can snip the ends down so they don't show also.

Now start to adhere your braid to your flip flop strap. I used hot glue, but it does not hold well. I had to reinforce with a little stitching.

There you have your braided ribbon flip flops! They are very cute like this, but I wanted to add something a little extra.

I love these ribbon flowers. They are very pretty and great embellishments! I especially love the white because you can easily dye them to match anything!

I cut the sheer part from around the flowers then sprayed them with various mists to get the color that I wanted.

Once the flowers are dry, I added a couple of loops to the back to give a little added look.

I doubled up the flowers for dimension and sewed little buttons on for centers. I used hot glue to adhere them to the flip flops, but I also stitched them to the ribbon as well just to reinforce the bond (my daughter is rough on her floppies!)

There you have it! New flip flops for summer for less than a couple of dollars!

Let Freedom Ring!

Happy Independence Day!

I'm sure everyone has a fun filled day planned for today, right? Here in southern Ohio it's been HOT HOT HOT! We are planning to cook out and maybe see some fireworks tonight. All in all, today is a great day for some family time!

I wanted to share a quick little patriotic project that I made for today.

I decided that I wanted to make something dimensional. I found this little 3d star cut file in the Silhouette Store and just had to give it a try! These little stars (around here they call them barn stars because people hang larger metal versions on their barns and homes) are so popular right now!

I added some of my favorite patriotic paper from Authentique's Glory collection and then stamped a couple of images from Sweet Stamp Shop's adorable "God Bless America" stamp set. Then I finished it off with a little ribbon from May Arts and some of the new Firecracker twine from Timeless Twine. This twine can be used for sooo much more than just 4th of July, so make sure you stop by the Timeless Twine shop and grab you a spool! It's a really pretty color combo and a must have in my book!
